NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER DAY!

When we found out it’s National Peanut Butter Day here in the UK, we couldn’t resist sneaking on a little post about how much we love the stuff. Not only is it INCREDIBLY delicious, indulgent and an all round favourite – but it’s also highly rich in nutrients that our bodies thrive off.

Peanut butter is unfortunately something that is given the total no no by dieters who want to cut the calories in order to lose weight. But when consumed in moderation, it can in fact HELP you keep the pounds off…

Yes, it’s high in fat and calories. But the difference between a couple of spoonfuls of peanut butter and a greasy burger is that it contains mono-unsaturated fats. These are the kind of fats that keep your heart healthy, lower cholesterol, make your energy levels soar and help you stay focused. It’s also an absolutely fabulous source of protein (that’s a mega 8g per 2 tablespoons!) which means it will keep you feeling fuller for longer and you won’t be as tempted to munch so soon after your meal. So if you’re trying to maintain your waistline, then don’t completely rule out peanut butter… It does your bod more good than you might have first thought!

If that doesn’t make you want to stock up on a jar of buttery peanut deliciousness enough, then maybe these little facts will sway you towards the shops. Peanut butter is a super powerful source of antioxidants including skin loving vitamin E, bone building magnesium, immune boosting vitamin B6 AND muscle nourishing potassium. Phew! That’s a hell of a lot of goodness.

– Spread on to rye toast and topped with banana and cinnamon for a quick breaky on the go

– Straight off the spoon for those times you need a little indulgence in your day

Oh, and be be sure to choose a high quality, organic peanut butter that has no added palm oil, salt or sugar to ensure you’re giving your bod only the best stuff!
