Filmore & Union to celebrate Yorkshire roots with gluten free menu of local produce at themed nights this AprilApril 3, 2018 1:00 pm
‘Feel good’ food and drink chain Filmore & Union has announced the theme for its monthly Supper Club event in April 2018, where it will be celebrating its Yorkshire roots with a gluten free menu featuring the freshest produce from homegrown Yorkshire suppliers.
The Yorkshire Night, which will be held on 26, 27 and 28 April 2018 across Filmore & Union’s York Petergate, Harrogate, Wetherby, Ilkley, Skipton, Beverley and Jesmond restaurants, is now available to book for just £21.95 per person for three courses.
The completely gluten free menu has something for everyone with fish, meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Locally sourced ingredients include salmon from Yorkshire-based Bleikers Smokehouse, Wharfe Valley Farms rapeseed oil, Hesper Farm Skyr yogurt, Shepherd’s Purse Yorkshire Fettle cheese, Denholme Gate wildflower honey, Willowdene Farm watercress, Yorkshire chorizo, Crossgates Farm apple cider vinegar, Yorkshire rhubarb, and locally foraged wild garlic.
For starters, there is choice between oak smoked salmon with crushed dill new potatoes, smoked rapeseed, Skyr yogurt, sea rosemary and pickled cucumber; butternut, rosemary, whipped fettle and walnut crostini with a pear raisin salad; or parsnip and wildflower honey soup with toasted almonds and red sorrel. Main courses include chicken breast with wild garlic and herb pesto, chorizo and carrot emulsion, baby carrots and smoked mash potato; gnocchi, puy lentils, red kale, sweet potato, tenderstem broccoli, sorrel and apple jus; and cod, watercress and pea puree with charred broccoli, and a hazelnut pancetta crumb. The dessert sharing board features poached rhubarb, coconut orange yogurt, granola parkin pancakes, caramelised maple pears, lemon curd tart and raspberries, with a vegan version available.
Filmore’s Skipton based nutritional chef Jake Chapman said: “I’ve wanted to do a Yorkshire-themed night for a while to showcase everything we have to offer in terms of fresh, local ingredients that are wellness-inspired and tailored for special dietary requirements. Creating our Supper Club menus is always exciting, but this has got to be one of the best we’ve ever done and I can’t wait to see customers’ reactions to the flavour combinations. It’s also a great opportunity to further strengthen our links with Yorkshire producers and showcase what amazing ingredients are coming out of our home region. We may be expanding across the country, but we are very proud of our Yorkshire roots and we think our customers in both Yorkshire and Newcastle will relish the opportunity to try something that they won’t find elsewhere.”
Filmore & Union now has 17 ‘feel good’ restaurants and take out delis across Yorkshire, the North East, and East Midlands with the latest opening in John Lewis Nottingham on 27 March 2018. Each store retains its own ‘independent’ feel while serving up the same quality of Filmore’s famous breakfasts, brunches, lunches, coffees, juices, evening meals, and gluten free cakes which are made at its own gluten free bakery in Wetherby. Previous themed supper clubs have included Vegan, Moroccan and Tapas Nights, which have proved popular with customers across Yorkshire and the North East.
